The Best Outdoor and Wilderness Survival Tools For Ladies

Survival of the Sweetest? Why Not?

Today’s best survival tools are usually designed for men to use and they indeed work very well in many survival situations. But what about the ladies? Can these same tools work just as well for them? In some cases yes. But in others, they are somewhat unwieldy for the smaller, and more delicate hands of the gentler sex.

But fortunately, there are some survival tools for women which work just fine and may help your female friends and family survive a bad experience in the wilderness, or in other less isolated places. Survival situations don’t always occur in the deep woods or deserts. It pays to be as prepared as possible, no matter the location.

These smaller lighter survival tools will suit a woman’s lifestyle better too and may be easier to transport or stow. Some are so small they will easily fit into a purse or glove compartment of a vehicle. These tools and knives also make great gifts for those outdoors loving gals, both young and old. They may never need them, and you hope they never do.

Best Ladies Survival Knives

The most essential tool for survival is undoubtedly the knife. Possibly man’s first fabricated tool consisting of flaked flint or obsidian. A good knife may enable a person to construct a shelter, obtain food, make a fire, and perform other essential survival functions. The following knives perform well and are easy to open and wield.

Like the name suggests, the Spyderco Ladybug is small, lightweight, and opens easily. A locking blade ensures safe use and the steel is of high quality for lasting sharpness. Its small size makes it easy to carry or store in a purse or handbag. An excellent knife for the ladies.

There’s nothing like a Swiss Army knife in survival situations. The Victorinox Swiss Army Classic SD is perfect for those ladies who love hiking and camping in the wonderful outdoors. Not only a sharp blade, but a pair of scissors is included. Small and Lightweight. Many colors and design schemes are available to match any outfit the lady might wear. (kidding of course but not really) Summer blue, Pink, Flowers, etc.

For those females who want a knife as sharp and handy as the guys have, the Ladies model Gerber paraframe locking blade knife is constructed of titanium steel and comes with an LED flashlight to light your way. This is a serious knife for those intrepid outdoors types no matter the gender.

The BOKER MAGNUM LADY DAMASCUS is a smaller version of the great Boker Lord folding pocket knife. Designed and sized for ease of use and quality construction for long dependable service. Perfect for hiking, camping, and survival purposes. A great tool!

Ladies Survival Pocket Tools

Survival tools aren’t always knives and hatchets. Today’s technology has developed some great pocket sized tools which have a surprising array of uses. Usually a sharp edge is included along with other handy features designed for all survival situations. I have included a few of the most popular and useful examples for the ladies.

The most simple of the pocket-sized survival tools is the SE 11 Function Credit Card Size Survival Pocket Tool. Eleven functions performed by this small thin stainless steel tool. Easily stored in a pocket or purse and cheap enough to give to your loved ones as a gift which may save their life one day.

The Tool Logic SVC1 is more advanced model of the credit card survival tools offered. Plenty of regular features but includes a serrated knife and an emergency fire starter. This very fine tool will enhance the chances of survival for anyone, no matter the gender of the survivalist. Highly recommended.

Another fine pocket tool, the SVC2B is the product of much research and study to try and get as many useful tools in a small package as possible. A perfect ladies survival tool as it takes barely any room and can be easily carried in a shirt pocket while hiking or camping trips.

Survival Multi-Tools For Ladies "Leatherwoman"?

But the most impressive and useful survival tool of all is of course, the multi-tool. And yes, there are smaller versions of the famous tool which women can easily use in any survival situation. Only the best quality tools are offered in this section as quality is extremely important in serious emergencies.

Since 1910 Gerber has been producing some of the finest cutting tools made. The GERBER 05500 Compact Multi-function Tool is another example of their ingenuity. Made for smaller hands, this tool is great for the ladies or for younger survival or outdoor aficionados.

Anyone can afford this great little Leatherman Mult-Tool and it is so small it will fit in the smallest of pockets. You’ll be surprised at how often you dig this little tool out. Semi-survival is important too. For life’s not-so-important survival situations, the MICRA MULTITOOL is a perfect solution.

Women Are Survivors Too!

Survival tools aren’t just for men anymore. It’s a tough world out there and we have to be ready for anything that happens. I hope you never need these tools and they rust away with you as you survive this hostile planet. Enjoy the outdoors!

Thanks Bob! Actually, several ladies asked about these type tools on one of my other Survival tools hubs so I thought this one might fill a gap in the subject.

Matching survival tools might just catch on! What colors do you prefer? LOL!

Thank you for your recommendations. Many familiar high-quality brands but I had not gone checking for something "my size" although it is on my to-do list. *All* of us who are more petite (mostly women and girls but also some men and boys, and consider that some Asian-Americans and other ethnicities can be pretty small on average) can benefit from having tools that are lighter to carry and easier to grip (and thus SAFER than "normal," i.e. male-oriented, tools).

Also great because I think we need to get back to teaching kids how to use tools safely instead of trying to protect them from learning how to maintain their bikes, make fires, cook food, etc., and having smaller but good quality knives etc. (and bonus psychological points if each kid has one in his/her favorite color or if it can be distinguished from their siblings') is a great idea if you are going to teach them.

(I still use kids' scissors much of the time. When I was a kid you can imagine that using adult scissors was like trying to cut with clown shoes.)

Thanks for your insightful comments, MSH. I agree with your concerns about kids not being allowed to learn how to handle tools safely. It is great we now have smaller versions of tools for both ladies and children to use safely.

I'm not much of a survivalist but I certainly enjoy survival shows such as "Dual Survival." That multi-tool is certainly a winner, just ask Survivorman. Inventing a credit card sized tool for survival is a fun idea. Just make sure you take it everywhere. Later!

I go very few places without my multitool, Kosmos. I am usually in the woods at some time during the day, so I feel lost without at least knife of some kind.

The credit card type tools are great for keeping in a tackle box or in your hunting/camping gear. Thanks for your time and input.
